with Dental Veneers

Do you have teeth that are discolored, uneven, or broken? If so, dental veneers may be right for you as a way to improve the appearance of your smile. Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of tooth-colored porcelain. They are applied to the front surfaces of your teeth, making your smile appear brighter and more even.
“My teeth were majorly chipped. As a professional wedding planner, I wasn’t always confident or happy with my appearance when meeting clients. When I came to Dr. Kamboh, we talked about veneers. I’m beyond thrilled with the results. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent.

Henrietta, Leesburg, VA

When Henrietta came to Lansdowne Dental Associates, she wanted to fix her smile, but wasn’t sure what could be done. “I originally wanted a whitening, but I knew that wouldn’t hide the chips in my teeth,” she said.

After speaking with Dr. Kamboh, they discussed putting veneers on her four front teeth to permanently hide the chips. A professional whitening would ensure all of her teeth were the same color and look uniform and natural.

Henrietta says the results are stunning. “Dr. Kamboh was a true professional. He was able to brighten my smile and permanently fix my chips. I’m proud to smile when meeting my clients and even refer some of them to Dr. Kamboh!”

Cosmetic dentistry veneers are able to fix a variety of aesthetic issues with the teeth, including yellowing, gaps, and chips.

The best candidates for dental veneers have teeth that are healthy, but have cosmetic damage. If the teeth are badly decayed or have untreated problems such as unfilled cavities, there may be more suitable treatment options.

What are dental veneers?

They are thin sheets of tooth-colored material, and may be made of porcelain, ceramic, or composite materials. They are intended to cover cosmetic damage, and become the outwardly visible surface of the tooth. Dental veneers are often used on all of the teeth that are visible when you smile, although in some cases they will be used selectively on one or two teeth with cosmetic damage.
The process takes just two office visits, as opposed to orthodontic braces or professional tooth whitening which may require multiple visits to achieve the desired results. During the first stage, a small amount of tooth material must be ground down from the surface of the teeth. Because tooth material must be removed in order to make room for the porcelain veneers, this treatment is not usually considered reversible. This shaving down of the natural tooth is done for two reasons. First, the amount of tooth removed is equal in thickness to the veneers, so that the teeth will not be any thicker than normal once the veneers have been cemented into place. It also provides a rougher surface upon which the veneers will be cemented, enabling a stronger bond between the veneer and the tooth.
Next, dental molds are taken so that a dental lab can create custom veneers, fitted to the surfaces of your teeth. Once Dr. Kamboh receives the completed veneers, you will return to the office for a second visit. During this visit, the porcelain veneers are cemented onto the front surface of the tooth, leaving you with a brighter and more uniform smile.

Common FAQs on Dental Veneers

No, porcelain veneers do not ruin your natural teeth! In fact, they are designed to fit over your teeth and enhance their naturally beautiful appearance.

Dental veneers do not last a lifetime, but depending on how well you take care of them they may more than 20 years.

They are permanent, meaning, once they are bonded to your teeth, there is no going back. They may cause tooth sensitivity for a few days after they are placed. Although durable, veneers may chip or break depending on how well you take care of them and what you eat.
